The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission is a space telescope designed to search for exoplanets by monitoring the brightness of stars for the telltale signs of planetary transits. Launched by NASA in 2018, TESS has already discovered thousands of potential exoplanets and is helping to expand our understanding of the diversity of planets in our galaxy. The mission aims to identify Earth-sized and larger planets around nearby stars that could be good candidates for further study with future telescopes.
